Drowning Prevention

The World Health Organization's global report on drowning shows some scary statistics: over 350,000 people die from drowning every year, over half are among those under 25 years of age, males are twice as likely to drown than females, the highest rates are among children aged 1-4, drowning is the 3rd leading cause of unintentional injury death worldwide. But, drowning can be prevented!

Kirsty has made it her mission to help decrease drowning rates. Swimming is the only sport that can save a life and therefore the Kirsty Coventry Academy’s learn-to-swim and HEROES programs teach children about water safety and drowning prevention.
